FLORENCE — A firearms expert retained to provide testimony in the case against a Coolidge man charged in the 2012 death of a Casa Grande man in Maricopa was questioned about his role on the witness stand at trial.
Abdullatif Aldosary, 56, is accused of killing Orlando Requena, 26, of Casa Grande in Maricopa on Nov. 27, 2012. The trial is scheduled to start Tuesday and last for two weeks.
He is charged with first-degree murder. In a separate case, he is also charged with terrorism in relation to the bombing of the back of the Casa Grande Social Security office about the same time, in which no one was injured.
An Aldosary defense attorney asked the firearms expert if he could say with certainty the shots that killed the man came from the gun Aldosary allegedly possessed.
The firearms expert said he could not, but added that is not included with his role in this case, as the examination is based on prior cases.
Aldosary’s attorney told the court that is why the testimony should be limited at trial.
The judge told the firearms expert he must testify in person. In Friday’s hearing he testified telephonically.
The court set a Monday court hearing to issue rulings on this and other motions.
A judge ruled earlier this year that Aldosary is competent to stand trial, which had been an issue in the past.
