MARICOPA -- People looking to sell or buy household or gardening goods will now have a one-stop shop.

Carl Peo, who is organizing the first Maricopa Car Boot Sale, hopes it will help the entire community. The first sale is on Oct. 3 at Copper Sky Regional Park.

Venders start at 7 a.m. with a tent, truck, trailer, van, SUV or car. Fees vary on what is pitched at the event and only cash is accepted at this time.

Knives, alcohol, fireworks, guns, ammunition and others are not allowed to be sold at the sale.

Customers start buying from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

Restrooms for all will be on location. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash at all times.

Food trucks and bouncy castles and rides will be available for the children.

Other car boot sales will be on Nov. 7 and Dec. 5. Next year, from January until May, this event will occur every first and third Sunday of every month.

For more details or to vend at the event, go to Peo's website, email him or contact him via Facebook.

Several months ago, Peo reached out to the community on Facebook, asking if anyone could design a website for him as a school or college project. Matthew Snyder, a freshman at ASU studying computer science, responded to Peo's request and helped create the website.

Snyder uses this website as part of his portfolio.

Peo also worked with the Maricopa city officials to help make this event possible. In an email, Peo said they were "absolutely fantastic with me, helping me to make it all happen."

He believes his idea, though it isn't new, will help the community as a whole.
