MARICOPA — A 51-year-old Maricopa man was arrested last month for the continual sexual assault of a child spanning more than 10 years.

Jose Torres Jr. has been charged with sexual conduct with a minor and three counts of continuous sexual assault without consent for offenses dating back to 2015.

On Feb. 9, a teen and the child’s mother arrived at the Maricopa Police Department and reported that Torres had been having sex with the child since the child was 6 or 7. The person is now nearly 18.

The alleged victim told investigators the incidents began when they lived in Phoenix and continued when they moved to Tempe and Maricopa.

During a forensic interview on Feb. 9 the teen disclosed that Torres committed sexual acts on multiple occasions since the child was 6, according to police records. The last time it occurred was three or four months prior to the interview.

During a recorded phone call with police listening in, Torres admitted he had sex with the child four or five times since they moved to Maricopa four years ago.

On Feb. 11 police arrested Torres at his home. He remains in custody at the Pinal County Adult Detention Center on $250,000 secured bond.
