Maricopa Public Library crafts

People of all ages can create crafts like these during November events at the Maricopa Public Library.

MARICOPA — November at the Maricopa Public Library brings more arts, coloring, and crafts for all age groups, as well as continued meetings of weekly and monthly groups.

Beginning on Thursday, the adult class Color Me Calm resumes at 9 a.m., followed by Crafty Creations for adults with Melissa at 11 a.m. This month Crafty Creations participants will create “make and take” fall leaf luminary jars, safely illuminated by placing a battery-operated candle inside.

Mad Art Lab meets on Nov. 7 and 21 at 5 p.m. This month’s crafts include making a Fall-colored, dyed tissue-paper wreath. Samples of each of the three crafts featured in November may be seen inside the library entrance.

Off the Page: Book Club for Tweens (ages 8-12) meets on Nov. 14 at 5 p.m., this month featuring “Captain Underpants” in a fun, interactive event that brings books to life.

On Nov. 19, a Teen Craft Class begins at 5 p.m. with the making of a painted canvas featuring the creator’s first initial. The painting is a sort of “First Initial” monogram painting, something great to mark a teen’s bedroom door or wall.

Friends of the Library Coffee meets every Tuesday in November at the library at 1:30 p.m. and all are invited, members and non-members alike. The Friends will soon be preparing for their upcoming annual Christmas cookie sale, taking place on Dec. 6. Visit the Friends of the Maricopa Public Library Facebook page for upcoming cookie sale times.

The weekly group, Grief Journey, continues to meet every Wednesday at 2 p.m. under the direction of Monica White, the group’s organizer and a social worker with Compassus Hospice of Casa Grande. This group first started meeting in January 2018 and will also meet at 2 p.m. on Nov. 27, the day before Thanksgiving this year.
