MARICOPA — One of the drivers involved in a fatal head-on collision on Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway in June has been arrested.

Daniel Garcia, 37, was arrested as a fugitive of justice and on suspicion of reckless manslaughter and assault, according to records from the Pinal County Adult Detention Center.

Pinal County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Lauren Reimer said Garcia was arrested in connection with a 2 a.m. fatal head-on collision on June 15 between a white pickup truck and a silver sedan on Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway near Russell Road.

The driver of the truck allegedly attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone and struck the sedan, killing a passenger in the sedan, according to Maricopa Police and Pinal County Sheriff’s officials. The drivers of both vehicles were taken to hospitals at the time for treatment.
