MARICOPA — Squeeze will perform live in concert on Sept. 11 at The Events Center at Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino.
Squeeze features the Ivor Novello Award-winning songwriting duo Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook, who reunited 10 years ago to relaunch Squeeze. They have been touring, writing and recording together since.
The Sept. 11 show is part of the duo’s cross-country “Nomadband” tour, which also includes shows in California, Las Vegas, Seattle, Florida and other areas. The show at Harrah’s is the only stop in Arizona.
In 2015, they released their critically acclaimed “Cradle to the Grave” album, which “marked the triumphant reintegration of the masterful songwriting axis of Chris and Glenn,” a press release promoting the show said.
Tilbrook was the lead singer and guitarist for the new wave-era band Squeeze, which formed in the 1970s in England and broke up in the early 1980s.
Tilbrook wrote the music for Squeeze songs while Difford wrote the lyrics.
Difford, who was a founding member of the British group Squeeze, has been a lyrics writer for more than four decades. After the band’s breakup in the 1980s, he went on to write songs and lyrics for various performers including Elvis Costello, Elton John and others.
He regularly leads online songwriting retreats and workshops on his website, chrisdifford.com.
The song-writing duo released an album, “Difford and Tilbrook,” in 1984. It was remastered in 2005.
Ticket prices begin at $39.50 and may be purchased online at ticketmaster.com.
