MARICOPA — Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino will have the sound of Nashville on Sept. 28 as it welcomes country and gospel singer Josh Turner to the stage.
The Grammy-nominated Turner is known for bringing spiritual themes into his music, such as his hit “Long Black Train.” He is also known for such songs as “Hometown Girl, “Would You Go With Me,” “Your Man,” “Time is Love,” and “Why Don’t We Just Dance.”
In all, Turner has released seven albums, selling more than 8 million units along with more than 1.5 billion plays on streaming services and populated radio. His success led to him becoming a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 2007 at just the age of 30, making him the second youngest member of the group behind Carrie Underwood.
Turner is also an author, having published “Man Stuff: Thoughts on Faith, Family and Fatherhood” in 2014. He is the founder of the Josh Turner Scholarship for children who are pursuing the same dreams under similar circumstances of his youth.
The concert at the Harrah’s Ak-Chin Events Center will take place Saturday, Sept. 28, with the show beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.
