MESA — Edkey Inc. has announced the appointment of Yovhane Metcalfe as its chief academic officer.
Edkey operates Sequoia Pathway Academy in Maricopa.
Upon graduating from Greenway High School in Glendale, she was awarded the national Gates Millennium Scholarship. She went on to earn master's and doctoral degrees in education with a focus in education research and evaluation.
She has served as K-12 policy director at the Foundation for Excellence in Education and as a subject matter expert for the U.S. Department of Education. Before that, she rated over 2,000 district and charter schools annually as the Arizona Department of Education’s first chief accountability officer. She also served as an assistant professor at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Metcalfe said, “I am excited to join Edkey’s team of dynamic, talented and caring educators who are committed to providing the highest quality education possible for students. I am looking forward to learning about each of the unique schools in the Edkey family of schools and collaborating with school leaders on innovative and research-based ways to optimize academic success.”
Edkey is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports 26 schools and programs, each with its own mission and vision, operating exclusively in Arizona, including Pinal County.
