FLORENCE — Two Florence boxers won their bouts June 22 at a pro-am event in Rocky Point, Mexico.

Edriech “Kid Flash” Rosa, fighting at 114 pounds, stopped his opponent, Jose Venezuela, in the third round and now has a 4-0 pro record with four knockouts.

Conner Goade, also boxing at 114 pounds, won his three-round contest vs. Israel Bryan Rivera in a unanimous decision for his third-straight amateur win. Both train with Robles Boxing & Fitness of Florence.

Rosa’s opponent had just posted an eight-round victory against a previously undefeated fighter, but Rosa knocked him down with a body shot in the first round.

“My shots don’t look that big, but I sneak ’em inside where they need to go,” Rosa said.

After Rosa, 23, knocked down Venezuela twice, the referee stopped the fight, as Rosa was raining blows on Venezuela in the third round.

Coach Randy Robles said Rosa possesses the three key ingredients of speed, technical knowledge and power, plus “lightning-fast footwork.” Rosa is ranked 12th in his weight division in the country and is in the top 99 in the world.

In Goade’s contest, the referee gave his opponent two standing-eight counts, one near the end of the first round and the other at the beginning of the third. Robles said Goade, 19, lost his first six amateur contests but kept training and has won his last three.

“He showed a lot of courage in not quitting,” Robles said.

Rosa’s next bout is scheduled for July 27 in Phoenix. For ticket information, see Robles Boxing & Fitness and Edriech Rosa on Facebook and Instagram.
