SUPERIOR — A Superior man is facing charges after allegedly threatening a family member with physical violence and fighting with law enforcement officers.
According to Pinal Superior Court records, Daniel R. Alvarado, 55, is charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
At 9:27 a.m. on May 28, Superior Police officers were called to a disturbance at a home in the 300 block of North Magma Avenue. The person who called told officers that Alvarado had allegedly yelled at them and threatened them with physical violence. The person also told officers that Alvarado has a history of mental illness and substance abuse.
When officers informed Alvarado that they were going to arrest him, he allegedly raised his hands. Officers asked Alvarado if he intended to fight them and he allegedly said, “Yes.”
Alvarado then allegedly tried to retreat into a bedroom and close the door while maintaining a fighting stance toward officers.
When officers moved in to arrest him, Alvarado allegedly grabbed one officer’s upper torso and tried to wrestle himself away from the officer. Officers used a stun gun to take Alvarado to the ground and handcuff him.
