SUPERIOR — A two-vehicle fatal collision that occurred Jan. 10 on U.S. 60 in northern Pinal County has claimed the life of a second woman.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a 2003 Buick was traveling north near Superior when it failed to stop for a stop sign while crossing into westbound U.S. 60 at 4:47 p.m.
The Buick pulled out in front of a Dodge heavy-duty pickup, which was westbound on U.S. 60 in the right lane.
The pickup collided with the passenger side of the Buick, killing Nancy E. Tweedale, 75, of Cicero, New York, who was a passenger in the Buick.
Tweedale was transported to a hospital in Chandler, where she succumbed to her injuries that day. Jean Simmons, the driver of the Buick, was in critical condition at a Mesa hospital for nine days but she died Sunday evening from injuries she sustained in the crash, according to a family member.
Simmons, 84, is from Binghamton, New York.
