FLORENCE — The Pinal County Board of Supervisors made the final results of the Nov. 3 general election official with the canvass on Wednesday.
Pinal County Elections Director Michele Forney reported that voter turnout in Pinal County was nearly 75% or registered voters, up from 70% in the last presidential election and 59% in the 2018 general election. There were 186,319 total votes cast, a record for Pinal County.
After running 13 elections for Pinal County since 2015, Forney said her last day would be Friday. She said she’s moving to Nevada, where she will be working on elections at the state level.
Interim Elections Director will be Stephanie Cooper. Cooper has been with Pinal County for two years and has worked on five Pinal elections, Forney said. Cooper worked previously on elections in Apache County and at the state level for the secretary of state, and has also worked for the state’s Clean Elections Commission.
“So you’re getting a very experienced person to lead you the rest of the way,” Forney told the board.
