FLORENCE — A second-floor courtroom at the Pinal County Courthouse was closed and fumigated last week after a defendant reportedly was seen with bugs on his skin or hair.
County officials had no confirmation if what the person had was bed bugs or another type of pest, but “just took the precaution” of disinfecting the courtroom after the person left, Pinal County Superior Court Administrator Todd Zweig told PinalCentral.
The incident occurred in the county’s Early Disposition Court on Jan. 21, and the defendant was probably there for his first hearing, Zweig said. Closing the courtroom did not interrupt a trial or cause any other inconvenience to the court or county personnel.
“We have several courtrooms, we just had to switch,” Zweig said.
