APACHE JUNCTION — Apache Junction officers arrested a Phoenix man after receiving a call of a potential domestic fight.

According to Pinal County Superior Court records, Stanton E. Long, 34, is charged with aggravated assault.

Officers received a call at 2:13 p.m. on Aug. 29 about a man punching a woman near South Ironwood Drive and U.S. 60. The caller said they heard a woman yelling for help and saw a man punching a woman and then pulling her by the hair and clothing.

When officers arrived, they found a man and a woman sitting on a wall on the south side of the street. Officers noted some severe injuries to the woman’s face including cuts and swelling around the eyes, nose and mouth. It also appeared that some of her hair had been ripped out and her clothes were torn and dirty. Officers also noted an area in the dirt where it looked like the woman may have been dragged.

As officers approached the couple, the woman got up and walked away.

The man was identified as Long. He was allegedly out of breath and bleeding from the knuckles.

Both Long and the woman appeared to be intoxicated. Long was booked at the Apache Junction police station. The woman was taken to a local hospital.

Neither Long nor the woman would tell officers what had happened. The woman did tell officers multiple times that Long was going to eventually kill her.
