APACHE JUNCTION — A Chandler man ran naked from police after allegedly assaulting a woman, police say.
According to Pinal County Superior Court records, Robert L. Berthold, 31, is charged with domestic violence assault and resisting arrest.
At 10:29 p.m. on June 16, Apache Junction Police officers responded to a disturbance in the 2200 block of North Ironwood Drive. As officers were approaching the home, they saw a woman standing outside with a swollen eye and bloody face.
Officers attempted to contact Berthold, who was inside the home. Berthold allegedly came to the door, saw the officers, refused to come out of the house and closed the door, leaving it unlocked. As officers continued to try to encourage Berthold to speak with them, another officer saw Berthold jump out of a bedroom window naked and run off.
The officers chased Berthold, who jumped a block wall and ran away from them. Officers were eventually able to stop Berthold by using a stun gun and take him into custody. Officers noted that Berthold appeared to be intoxicated.
