SADDLEBROOKE — A Tucson man is facing charges of theft and trafficking in stolen property after a Saddlebrooke woman reported some of her jewelry missing.
According to Pinal County Superior Court records, William E. Bailey, 32, is charged with one count of theft and three counts of trafficking in stolen property.
According to court records, on Oct. 8 a woman reported to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office that some of her jewelry, worth nearly $16,000, was missing from her home. She provided deputies with the name of her landscaper/handyman, Bailey, as a possible suspect because he had been painting a room in her home before the items went missing.
Deputies did a database search of local pawn shops and found that Bailey had pawned several pieces of jewelry similar to what had been reported missing at a shop on July 9, Sept. 8 and Sept. 16.
When Bailey was arrested on Oct. 15, he allegedly admitted to taking the jewelry on July 9 while he was painting and selling the items to the pawn shop.
