GLOBE (AP) — Gila County authorities have ordered the residents of the Roosevelt and Roosevelt Lakes area to immediately evacuate because of a wildfire that has grown to nearly 79 square miles.
Thursday evenings evacuation affects about 250 homes east of metro Phoenix.
Authorities say about 200 people have been evacuated.
A temporary shelter facility has been established for community members and small pets at a school in the small town of Miami.
The homes are within a 12-mile radius of Roosevelt Lake, a popular recreation area.
A county spokesman says the wildfire is within seven miles of the homes.
