Library closed May 1
The Florence Community Library will be closed on Wednesday, May 1. The Pinal County Library District will upgrade circulation software on that date, rendering library circulation functions unavailable. This will not impact the Wi-Fi in the community center, and the atrium of the community center will remain open for public use. If you have any questions, contact the library at (520) 868-8311.
Application deadline near for aquatics jobs
Tomorrow, April 19, is the deadline to apply for work this summer at the Florence Aquatic Center. Positions available include pool manager, head guards, lifeguards and swim instructors. Pinal County’s first Transition Fair — for students with disabilities, their families and caregivers — will be held 5-7 p.m. April 24 at the Florence Library & Community Center.

Movie in the Park
Florence Community Services will show “Coco,” a popular Disney Pixar movie, at the Florence Aquatic Center multi-purpose fields at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 27. Bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy this free movie. The Florence Teen Council will sell refreshments. The aquatic center is located at 174 W. First St.
Annual Mother and Daughter Dance – Red Carpet
Music, food, fun and memories are in store for those who attend the eighth annual Mother Daughter Dance, 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 3, at the Florence Community Center, 778 N. Main St. The fee is $14 per person and may be paid at the Library & Community Center; Florence Fitness Center at 133 N. Main St.; or online at www.florenceaz.gov/parks-and-recreation. Sharks Swim Team Registration Open
Register now for the 2019 Florence Sharks Swim Team and compete in swim meets in various Pinal County locations. This recreational swim team is for youth ages 5-17. Practices are on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6:15 to 7:45 p.m. at the Florence Aquatic Center. Swim meets are held generally on Saturdays beginning June 1st. Resident fee is $40 and non-resident fee is $50, due by Wednesday, May 8. Register at the Florence Community Center or online at www.florencea.gov/parks-and-recreation.
Water Safety & Family Resource Day
The entire community is invited to the fourth annual Water Safety and Family Resource Day on Saturday, May 18, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Florence Aquatic Center. Vendors will offer valuable information about healthy lifestyles. Community Services will offer free swim testing and registration for swim lessons and its other summer programs. Lifeguards will demonstrate water rescues. Be advised that if attendance exceeds capacity for the aquatic center, there could be slight entry delays. The center is located at 174 W.
