PICACHO PEAK — A Tucson man who allegedly stole a construction crew’s truck was taken into custody after running into the wall of a Pinal County RV park.
According to Pinal County Superior Court records, Jorge B. Saldana, 63, is charged with theft of a means of transportation, unlawful flight from a law enforcement officer, criminal damage and possession of drug paraphernalia.
At 10:20 p.m. on June 16, an Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper responded to a request for help from the Marana Police Department near mile marker 219 on Interstate 10. Marana Police officers were following a construction truck that had been reported stolen out of Tucson.
The trooper was able to get behind the truck, which was being driven by Saldana. The trooper followed with his lights and sirens, as Saldana turned east onto a frontage road at 65 mph.
Officers were able to use a tire deflation device to stop the vehicle, which came to a stop outside Picacho Peak RV Park after hitting a block wall. Saldana allegedly dropped a meth pipe when he fled from the vehicle. He was taken into custody.
