PICACHO — Pinal County deputies stopped another driver allegedly smuggling people illegally.
A K-9 deputy stopped a vehicle on Interstate 10 near Picacho around 3 p.m. on Monday for a traffic violation, according to PCSO officials. A U.S. citizen was allegedly driving the vehicle with three people who did not have legal documents to be in the U.S.
U.S. Border Patrol agents were called to take over the investigation.
“Whether it’s drug or human smuggling, our deputies are making these stops at all times of the day, almost every day,” Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb stated in a PCSO Facebook post.
