ELOY — A man is sitting in the Pinal County jail on drug, unlawful flight and reckless driving charges after fleeing from Pinal County deputies on Interstate 10.
According to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy attempted to pull over a vehicle around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday near mile marker 202 on I-10 in Eloy. The driver of the vehicle took off, exiting and re-entering I-10 multiple times and running at least one red light.
Deputies also spotted the driver allegedly throwing a white substance from the vehicle’s window.
Multiple agencies were called out to assist, including police departments from Eloy, Casa Grande, Marana, Tucson and the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The vehicle was eventually stopped with the help of spike strips near mile marker 246 in Marana.
Deputies were able to collect 5.78 grams of the white substance that was thrown from the vehicle. The substance was determined to be cocaine.
The driver, Kaleb Barnes, 30, was arrested and booked on suspicion of unlawful flight from a law enforcement vehicle, possession of narcotic drugs, possession of narcotic drugs for sale, tampering with evidence and reckless driving.
