RED ROCK — A man who was allegedly in the country illegally was captured after leading state troopers on a high-speed chase near Red Rock.

According to Pinal County Superior Court records, Iain Urrea, 29, is charged with unlawful flight from a law enforcement officer.

At around 12:50 p.m. on Oct. 28, an Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper attempted to pull over a white Ford Expedition traveling west on Interstate 10 near milepost 231 for following another vehicle too closely.

The driver of the vehicle, Urrea, allegedly failed to stop for the trooper and sped up to 100 mph. Urrea came to a brief stop around milepost 226 and six people got out of the vehicle and fled into the desert.

DPS said Urrea then sped off again, passing other vehicles on the shoulder and almost hitting several vehicles before a rear tire on the vehicle blew out. The vehicle spun out near mile post 225 and came to a stop. Urrea and the front seat passenger then fled on foot, but they were both taken into custody.
