PICACHO — Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers stopped a vehicle carrying six people who had entered the country illegally and arrested the driver, who had also allegedly entered the country illegally.

According to Pinal County Superior Court records, Luis F. Campos Romero, 26, is charged with unlawful flight from law enforcement.

Around 9 a.m. on Oct. 11, a DPS trooper attempted to stop the vehicle that Romero was driving for an equipment violation near mile marker 232 on Interstate 10, near the Pima-Pinal county line. Romero allegedly sped away from the officer at 94 mph. Troopers pursued Romero’s vehicle to mile marker 214 south of Picacho, where he stopped and surrendered.

Troopers allegedly found six people inside the vehicle who did not have legal permission to be in the country. Romero was also allegedly in the country without legal permission.
