ELOY — For the Eloy Chamber of Commerce, the goal for its 28th annual golf tournament is simple: Make it bigger and better.

The 2021 version of the tournament has reportedly already surpassed the number of participants from last year. Although the event was still able to go forward last year despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the time has come for the chamber to put as much time and effort as possible to make this year’s event the best it has ever been.

Eloy Vice Mayor and Chamber Executive Director Andrew Rodriguez has taken over the helm of planning and organizing this year’s tournament. He says that he is happy with the process, and although his experience putting on a tournament like this is limited, he feels great about the opportunity this event is to bring Eloy business together.

“This is something I am good at, I am good at putting events together but on the bad side, I have never put on a golf tournament,” Rodriguez said. “But luckily for me, a lot of people who are in the chamber are stepping in to help. For me, I am bringing in my marketing and event coordinating skills, which is helping dramatically.”

For Rodriguez, his hope for the event is simply for everyone in attendance to have a good time, as well as the local businesses get to know one another.

“My expectation for the event is for people to have fun and have all the members come out, especially the new members,” Rodriguez said. “That is my biggest thing, for the new businesses to get together so they can start talking to each other and start helping each other out.”

The golf tournament will take place Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Dave White Municipal Golf Course in Casa Grande, with tee-off scheduled for 8 a.m.
