Maricopa Mayor Christian Price speaks at the kickoff of the Maricopa Advocate Program.

MARICOPA — City of Maricopa Mayor Christian Price is preparing to address the city in regards to COVID-19 later today to help appease many of the community members’ fears over the closures of schools, workplaces and public spaces in the wake of the virus.

The city has been emailing and posting regular updates regarding the precautions they are taking, and have said they will continue monitoring the situation closely and have decided to move forward with declaring a state of emergency.

“We’ll be talking about the virus and where we’ve come as a city in the last 7 days,” Price said. “We’ll be talking about putting services in place as we prepare to shutter businesses.”

Price will address the city via Facebook Live on his personal Facebook page at around 4:45 p.m. today.
