Food distribution

Lighthouse Ministry distributes free food to anyone in need Thursday April 23, 2020 at the parking lot of the old Kmart, 1214 E. Florence Blvd. Volunteers and National Guard members loaded vehicles with produce, meat, bread and other items.

CASA GRANDE — With six full semi-trailers packed with fresh produce, meat, bread and other foods, Lighthouse Ministry plans a food distribution event from 6 to 10 a.m. Saturday in the former Kmart parking lot, 1214 E. Florence Blvd.

Food will be given out free of charge.

Recipients will line up in the parking lot and will remain in their vehicles as volunteers load food into the trunks or beds of their vehicles.

Volunteers are needed to assist Lighthouse with setup, distribution and cleanup. Volunteers may arrive as early as 4 a.m.

Pastors will be on-hand to welcome those seeking food and to offer a prayer.

On Wednesday, Lighthouse Ministry distributed free food to area churches to deliver to the elderly.
