MARICOPA — Two of the biggest attractions in the Maricopa area have closed their doors for the next two weeks to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino and UltraStar Multi-tainment Center announced Wednesday that they would be temporarily closing beginning at 4 a.m. Thursday. The closure is anticipated to last through April 2.
According to spokeswoman Abbie Fink, Caesar Entertainment, which operates the casino, announced it would be closing its properties earlier in the week. However, the fate of Harrah’s Ak-Chin was left up to the Ak-Chin Indian Community Tribal Council.
During the closure, casino employees will continue to be paid and provided benefits without using vacation time for two weeks. Reservations during the closure made directly with the hotel will be automatically canceled. Those reservations made through a third-party seller will need to be canceled through that seller. Dining and spa reservations have also been canceled.
Events at the casino have been postponed through the end of the month, and the Gary Allan concert scheduled for April 3 has already been postponed.
