FLORENCE — The Florence area continues to greatly outpace the rest of Pinal County, and much of the state, in daily cases of COVID-19.
The 85132 ZIP code that contains much of Florence as well as the more rural area to the south and east reported 46 new cases on Thursday, according to the Arizona Department of Health Services. The next largest jump in cases in Pinal County came from Casa Grande’s 85122 ZIP code, which only had nine.
This brings Florence’s total cases since the beginning of the pandemic to 1,136, up 229 from just a week ago. Arizona DHS does not indicate how many cases on any given day are from the prison complexes.
In all, Pinal County had 76 newly reported cases for a total of 9,065 and five new deaths for a total of 176. Casa Grande’s three ZIP codes combined for 12 new cases and now stand at 1,900 total. The San Tan Valley/Queen Creek area’s three ZIP codes had 13 new cases for a total of 2,523.
In Arizona as a whole, there were 723 new cases reported Thursday as the state inches closer to the 200,000 mark. The total now stands at 196,280. Arizona also reported 50 new deaths to bring the total to 4,684.
