Aug. 5

A green Kawasaki UTV, being driven by Erica Zeik, 20, failed to stop at the stop sign at East Eighth and North Phoenix streets and collided with a white Nissan SUV. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and neither driver reported any injuries. Police investigated Zeik for DUI. She was issued a civil citation for failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to control speed to avoid collision and leaving the scene of an accident. She was advised additional charges could be filed pending the results of her blood draw, and she was released to a responsible party.

Aug. 6

An officer was dispatched to a report of an assault between two juveniles at the Pinal County Juvenile Detention Center. A charging review packet will be forwarded to the Pinal County Attorney Juvenile Division for determination of charges.

An officer was dispatched to a report of domestic violence. No arrests were made at the time. The suspect was advised a charging review packet will be forwarded to the appropriate attorney’s office for determination of charges.

An officer was dispatched to an alleged sex offense on South Pinal Parkway. The reporting party advised she was touched inappropriately by a male at a neighbor’s house after she told the male not to touch her. The officer then made contact with the male and was told he did hug her after she told him not to touch her. The officer will be submitting a charging review packet to the town attorney for determination of charges.

Aug. 7

A burglary was reported on East Florence Heights Drive.

An officer was dispatched to a report of an assault that had taken place between two inmates on North Pinal Parkway. A charging review packet will be forwarded to the appropriate attorney’s office for determination of charges.

Aug. 8

An officer was dispatched to a report of a fire in a field near East Arizona Farms and North Cooper roads. A hay baler was on fire. Florence Fire arrived on scene and put out the fire. The ranch supervisor stated he was advised by a firefighter the drive shaft on the baler was broken and that could be the cause of the fire. No injuries were reported.

Aug. 11

Officer was dispatched to a single-vehicle accident with minor injuries on West Ninth Street. Christina Gomez stated she was driving home and fell asleep at the wheel. She went through an intersection, passed through a cinder block wall and struck a cargo trailer. She complained of injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment. A citation was issued for failure to control speed to avoid collision.
