The Police Report is compiled from Florence Police Department reports. The only names published are those of adults who were cited, arrested or involved in a traffic accident. Suspects named in this column are innocent until proven guilty. Anyone whose arrest appears in this column who is later found not guilty or whose charges are dismissed is welcome to inform the Florence Reminder and it will be reported.

Tuesday, June 15

A man was reported to have started a fire on West State Route 287 and left the scene. A man matching the description was located and identified as Charles Lann, 38. He was also found to have a warrant and was arrested and booked into jail.

Thursday, June 17

A stolen bicycle was reported on East 8th Street. Prior to this call, an officer made contact with a man who had the described bicycle. The man was located with the bicycle. The bicycle was returned to the owner, who did not wish to pursue charges.

An officer responded to an attempted break-in on South Park Street. The resident reported several outside items had been moved and screens had been removed from windows. A check was done of the property, and it did not appear as though the home had been entered. The resident said nothing appeared to be missing. The case was closed pending further information.

Friday, June 18

An unwanted person was reported on South Bunker Hill Drive. The person, later identified as Kurt Waardenburg, 32, fled the scene but was apprehended. He was criminally cited on a charge of resisting arrest and was booked into jail for warrants.

Saturday, June 19

John Dacey, 23, was issued a criminal citation on charges of DUI liquor/drugs/vapors/combo and extreme DUI on North Hunt Highway. He was released to a responsible party.

Sunday, June 20

Assault was reported on North Pinal Parkway. An inmate had thrown an unknown liquid on a corrections officer. No injuries were reported and the case was closed.

Officers were dispatched to a report of domestic violence on West Stony Quail Way. It was determined both parties were at fault. They were separated for the night and advised charging review packets would be submitted to the town attorney for determination of charges.
