The Police Report is compiled from Florence Police Department reports. The only names published are those of adults who were cited, arrested or involved in a traffic accident. Suspects named in this column are innocent until proven guilty. Anyone whose arrest appears in this column who is later found not guilty or whose charges are dismissed is welcome to inform the Florence Reminder and it will be reported.
Tuesday, June 8
Florence Fire and a police officer responded to a tractor fire on West Magma Road. Florence Fire extinguished the fire.
An officer was dispatched to a domestic violence call on East Elliot Street. The reporting party advised the suspect had left the residence. The officer saw a vehicle matching the description and conducted a traffic stop. Nathan Tinney, 27, was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of assault, disorderly conduct, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Wednesday, June 9
Officers were dispatched to a report of shots fired on North Presidential Drive. A woman reported she arrived home to find her son had shot himself. An officer confirmed the male was deceased. The Pinal County Medical Examiner’s Office was contacted and they arrived to take possession of the deceased.
Thursday, June 10
A male on North Anthem Way reported money was stolen from his wallet the day prior.
Friday, June 11
A driver reported that he struck a bicyclist on East Butte Avenue. The driver and a witness said the bicyclist was suddenly in the roadway and the driver was not able to stop in time. Florence Fire responded and rendered medical aid. The bicyclist was found to have two baggies containing a white substance. No citation was issued to the driver. The case is pending DPS testing of the substance.
A male reported money and a circular saw were taken from his vehicle on West 11th Street.
Saturday, June 12
Officers were dispatched to a report of domestic violence on South Pinal Parkway. The parties were separated. An officer submitted paperwork to the town attorney for determination of charges.
Sunday, June 13
A female on North Hawthorn Drive reported her bicycle was taken from her garage, and she posted the information on Facebook. She stated she received a message that her bicycle may be located at Safeway. She went there and found her bicycle. She contacted police to make sure she could take her property. An officer confirmed through photos provided the bicycle was hers and she could take her property back.
An officer was dispatched to a trespassing call on North Pinal Parkway. Stephen C. Twigg, 60, was issued a citation for criminal trespass and released from the scene.
