The Police Report is compiled from Florence Police Department reports. The only names published are those of adults who were cited, arrested or involved in a traffic accident. Suspects named in this column are innocent until proven guilty. Anyone whose arrest appears in this column who is later found not guilty or whose charges are dismissed is welcome to inform the Florence Reminder and it will be reported.

Wednesday, March 24

An officer observed a golf cart traveling very slowly on North Hunt Highway. The officer conducted a traffic stop, suspected the driver to be under the influence and conducted a DUI investigation. Richard Garza, 54, was issued a criminal traffic ticket for driving without an ignition interlock device, DUI slightest degree and DUI .15 or more. He was released to a responsible party.

An officer was dispatched to a report of a male who had stolen a bicycle on North Pinal Parkway. A canvass of the area was not successful. At approximately three minutes after midnight a male matching the description was seen riding a bicycle matching the stolen bicycle. The officer attempted to stop the man but he refused to stop for approximately 1/2 mile. The male and the bicycle were positively identified by the victim. Forrest Harris, 25, was arrested and booked into jail on charges of theft and failing to obey a police officer.

Friday, March 26

A bicycle was reported stolen on North Pinal Parkway.

Saturday, March 27

One car backed into the front of another car while they were both going northbound on Smithsonian Drive near West Autumn Vista Way. Both cars were driven from the scene and no citation was issued.

Officers were dispatched to a noise disturbance on North Daisy Drive. Upon arrival, officers saw several vehicles parked along the roadway with one blocking a fire hydrant. The homeowner was contacted regarding the noise complaint and advised he needed to turn the music down. A neighbor was contacted and he stated he wished to be a victim as the noise was on ongoing issue. The officer submitted a charging review packet to the town attorney for determination of charges. The owner of the vehicle blocking the fire hydrant, Evelyn Montoya, 19, was issued a civil citation.

Sunday, March 28

An officer responded to an accident without injuries at Hunt Highway and Attaway Road. Mark Hudson stated the sun was in his eyes and he did not see the other car stopped at a red light. He was cited for failure to control speed to avoid a collision.
