The Police Report is compiled from Florence Police Department reports. The only names published are those of adults who were cited, arrested or involved in a traffic accident. Suspects named in this column are innocent until proven guilty. Anyone whose arrest appears in this column who is later found not guilty or whose charges are dismissed is welcome to inform the Florence Reminder and it will be reported.

Tuesday, Dec. 8

A rear-end accident was reported at Hunt Highway and Attaway Road. Yolanda Q. Hinojos, 66, was cited for failure to control speed to avoid a collision.

A collision between a bicyclist and a car was reported in Florence Gardens. Both the cyclist and the car were traveling east on McFarland Boulevard. The car attempted to go around the bicyclist near the intersection of North South Dakota Avenue. As the car began to pass, the bicyclist suddenly turned north, colliding with the car’s front passenger side quarter panel. The bicyclist then rolled along the passenger side and fell to the ground. She was treated and released by Florence Fire and was later taken to the hospital by her husband. She was subsequently admitted to the hospital for her injuries. No citation was issued.

Wednesday, Dec. 9

Police officers and Florence Fire were dispatched to a single-car accident with one occupant. It was reported the vehicle was on its side with a female stuck inside. The driver, Georgina M. Murray, 70, stated she hurt her arm but was otherwise okay. She was traveling on McFarland Boulevard when her vehicle went over the curb, struck three mailboxes and flipped on its side. She said she did not know how or why the accident happened. She was cited for failure to control speed to avoid collision.

Friday, Dec. 11

An officer was dispatched to an accident without injuries. Both drivers stated they turned from North Pinal Parkway onto Diversion Dam Road and that is when the accident occurred. Each driver stated the other driver caused the accident. Investigation could not reveal the at-fault driver and no citation was issued. Insurance information was exchanged.

Sunday, Dec. 13

An officer responded to a report of a person slumped over the wheel of a car on North Pecos Drive. A DUI investigation was conducted. A telephonic search warrant was obtained for a blood draw. The driver was later released to a responsible driver. The case is pending DPS lab results.

An accident was reported at North Merion Drive and West Autumn Vista Way. A juvenile female was cited for failure to control speed to avoid collision.
