The following was taken from the records of the Coolidge Police Department.
Arrests and citations
Police on Sept. 9 cited Joquan Campbell, 19, at Kevin’s Place and Shannons Way after stopping him for his alleged involvement in trespassing. After asking him to remove the contents from his pants office he allegedly pulled out folded aluminum foil, two plastic straws and drug residue, though he told police he had stopped using and did not know why the paraphernalia was in his pocket.
Police on Aug. 25 responded to the 1000 block of West Kachina Drive in reference to a woman screaming. The woman told police a man, Martin Gomez, grabbed her wrists and pinned her arms down to prevent her from leaving. She told police that during the struggle she was taken to the ground, and when he tried to take her purse, it caused her to fall back on the floor. Gomez, who had fled the scene, returned 30 to 45 minutes later and was arrested for domestic violence assault. Gomez denied the allegations.
Police on Sept. 8 cited and released Esther Bell on an allegation of disorderly conduct after she was alleged to have taken an aggressive stance against a woman whose home she was moving out of in front of police.
Police on Sept. 2 stopped a Silver Dodge Avenger driven by Seth Rodriguez for driving with a large crack in the windshield. Rodriguez consented to a search of the vehicle, where police allege they discovered a glass smoking device with a bulb and stem. Inside the smoking device was a while crystallized residue believed to be methamphetamine.The welders in the back seat were admitted to be stolen, but Rodriguez said he did not know anything about the tools. Rodriguez was cited for possession of stolen property, driving a motor vehicle with a suspended license and no mandatory insurance.
Police on Sept. 7 stopped bicyclist Bill Ogle, 44, at Central Avenue and First Street for not having the proper equipment, including having no front light or red rear reflector. A records search revealed Ogle has an active Coolidge city warrant and was arrested.
Police on Sept. 7 in the 200 block of West KennedyAvenue observed Krista Barlett, 34, on a mattress. A records search showed Bartlett had a Coolidge city warrant out for her arrest.
Incidents and reports
Police on Sept. 6 responded to Vah Ki Inn Road and Christensen Street in regards to a vehicle on fire. As police approached they saw a tan SUV on the northwest corner of the road engulfed in flames. The fire department responded and extinguished the blaze.
Police on Aug. 31 responded to a report of a theft in the 700 block of South Jefferson Street where it was reported a black dolly with big tires and five aluminum antique coffee pots were stolen. The value of the stolen items is $379.
Police on Sept. 2 stopped a Silver Nissan Xterra on Ninth Street near Northern Avenue believing Candice Siller. 50, would likely be using a stolen license plate on her vehicle. Siller was cited for knowingly displaying a fictitious license plate, theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, no mandatory insurance and no valid registration.
Police on Sept. 2 responded to the 400 block of East Lincoln Avenue for a criminal damage not in progress. The reporting party told and showed police the damage to the sidewalls on the tires on his van. Estimated damage is $400.
Police on Aug. 30 responded to the 400 block of West Lindbergh Avenue where a 15-year-old girl was alleged to have been slapped in the face. The woman she accused said she did not think she slapped the girl, and if she did it was not enough to hurt her. Police did not see any evidence or redness of the alleged slap. The girl’s father told police he wanted the woman to be charged with assault, which will be forwarded to the city prosecutor for review.
