The following was taken from the records at the Coolidge Police Department.

Arrests & Citations

On July 29, April Garcia, 25, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, marijuana possession and possession of a narcotic for use during a traffic stop near North Attaway Road and Malorie Lane.

On July 30, Tania Long, 45, was arrested for shoplifting at Walmart, 1695 N. Arizona Blvd. Long walked throughout the store and attempted to steal several items by not scanning them at the checkout station. The items were valued at $51.01.

On Aug. 3, Tony Viola III, 48, was arrested for possession of a dangerous drug, possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI in the 1500 block of North Arizona Boulevard. According to a police report, Viola was stopped in a blue and silver Jaguar turning from Vah Ki Inn Road onto Arizona Boulevard at 2:36 a.m. and was found with 2.4 grams of methamphetamine.

On Aug. 1, Levi Bonney, 22, was arrested for possession of a narcotic drug for use, marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop at 7:29 p.m. at South Arizona Boulevard and West Sunset Avenue.

On Aug. 1, Guadalupe Valencia Jr., 26, was cited and released for reckless driving in the 300 block of West Pinkley Avenue. According to a police report, Valencia was doing doughnuts in his vehicle at 4:12 p.m. He was argued with police, the report stated, and would not give a statement. He was also cited for driving on a suspended license.

On Aug. 1, Hieroshi Maddox, 43, was arrested for disorderly conduct and fighting at a residence in the 600 block of North Main Street. According to a police report, Maddox arrived at an apartment three times in a four-hour period demanding rent money from his wife for another residence. After going to the apartment for the second time, Maddox was told by police to leave and stay away. But at 4 a.m. on Aug. 1 he went again and then was arrested and transported to the Pinal County Adult Detention Center in Florence.

On Aug. 1, Sherwin Johnson, 46, was cited and released for possession of an open container of alcohol in a vehicle, no valid driver’s license, false license plate, possession of drug paraphernalia and drug use in the 200 block of West Central Avenue. Three passengers in the vehicle also were cited and released.

On Aug. 7, Coolidge police assisted the Gila River Police Department with the arrest of JC Breedlove, 33, of Coolidge and a 14-year-old on charges of drug possession, drug use and possession of drug paraphernalia. Coolidge police responded to a residence in the 600 block of West Wilson Place for an agency assist call and found Breedlove with a crystal-like white substance in his pants pocket. The item tested positive for methamphetamine of 1.5 grams. Gila River police also arrested him on charges of assault to a juvenile.

On Aug. 8, Alexander Fausto, 29, of Casa Grande was cited and released for possession of drug paraphernalia, marijuana possession and speeding about 8 p.m. near South Arizona Boulevard and West Taylor Avenue. Police said Fausto was stopped for driving 51 miles per hour in a 35-mph zone. An officer reported he smelled marijuana coming from the Toyota Scion and noticed a leafy substance partially smoked and wrapped in a cigar wrapper.

On Aug. 8 at 5:16 p.m., Peter Holden, 53, was arrested in the 400 block of West Roosevelt Avenue on a city of Coolidge warrant. He was released on his own recognizance.

On Aug. 6 at 5:47 a.m., Manuel Valencia, 34, was arrested on a city of Coolidge warrant in the 400 block of West Vah Inn Road. Police responded to the area on reports of a father-and-son dispute involving a truck and a gun. Police found a black .380 Bersa handgun under the driver’s seat of Rosario Valencia’s truck, but both men denied owning the gun. Police ran a warrants check on the younger Valencia, and he was arrested, and the gun was taken to the Police Department as evidence.

On July 28, Zelda Wright, 55, was cited and released during a traffic stop at West Northern Avenue and North Fourth Street. Police said they found a small amount of THC wax inside her vehicle.

On Aug. 5, Malik McKaney, 23, was arrested on charges of preventing the use of a telephone during an emergency, criminal damage, two counts of assault and a Pinal County Superior Court warrant for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested after police received reports that he was attempting to break into an apartment in the 600 block of North Main Street. Authorities said he kicked his way into the apartment, assaulted a woman and took her cell phone. He fled from police and was later apprehended in the 200 block of West Byrd Avenue. Estimated loss to the apartment door was $300.

On Aug. 7, Bailey George, 23, was cited and released for shoplifting a 20-volt Hart drill from Walmart, 1695 N, Arizona Blvd., after police found the drill in her purse. The estimated loss was $69.

On Aug. 7, Cash Madwell, 24, was cited and released for shoplifting a 20-volt Hart drill from Walmart, 1695 N, Arizona Blvd., after police said he cut open the item’s box and placed it in a woman’s purse. The estimated loss was $69.

On Aug. 2, Vanessa Reyes, 37, was arrested for a city of Coolidge warrant after police responded to the area of the 500 block of North Fourth Street for reports of trespassing. She was later released on her own recognizance.

On Aug. 7, Robert Munoz, 59, was cited and released for drug use and possession of drug paraphernalia. At 4:35 p.m. police responded to reports of a fight at a residence in the 800 block of West Spurell Avenue where Munoz was found with a small container of a white, crystal-like residue. The item tested at the Police Department as positive for methamphetamine.

On Aug. 6, Troy Harris, 25, was arrested for possession dangerous and use of a dangerous drug, marijuana use, possession of drug paraphernalia and a DUI during a traffic stop on the 200 block of West Kennedy Avenue. According to a police report, police found Harris parked in a car on the sidewalk and facing the wrong direction of traffic at 11:58 a.m. A search of the car found several fentanyl M30 pills, a glass smoking pipe and 9.6 grams of wax marijuana. Harris was taken to the police station for processing and a field sobriety test.

On July 30, Azeez Olaniyan, 26, was cited and released for failure to obey a lawful order, possession of an open container of liquor in a vehicle and failure to obey a traffic control device. According to a police report, at 10:34 a.m. Olaniyan failed to stop at a stop sign and fled in his car during a traffic stop near North Third Street and West Kennedy Avenue. An officer followed him to a residence on West Kennedy where Olaniyan was cited and released. He was given a field sobriety test, but the officer did not observe significant signs of impairment, the report stated.

On Aug. 1, Levi Bonney, 22, was cited and released for shoplifting bananas at Walmart, 1695 N. Arizona Boulevard. A 17-year-old male also was cited. The two bananas were valued at $3.94.

Theft, Burglary & Criminal Damage

A 2001 GMC Sierra, gray truck was reported stolen at 5:57 p.m. on Aug. 4 from a residence in the 400 block of West Bealey Avenue. The residence also had a broken window in the rear of the house. The victim told police the truck belongs to her mother, who lives in Florence. The truck had chrome wheels and a tool box and was valued at $1,000.

At 1:56 a.m. on Aug. 5, police received a 911 call about a car fire in the 300 block of West Byrd Avenue. Residents told police they did not see any suspicious activity in the area related to the fire, but a police report said police found evidence of arson on the ground in the form of a burned trail. The Coolidge Fire Department extinguished the fire.

On Aug. 11 at about 4:54 p.m. it was reported that a small bag of methamphetamine was found in the driveway of 220 W. Byrd Ave.

On Aug. 8, it was reported that between 6 and 10 p.m. an unknown subject stole a safe from a residence on the 500 block of East Lincoln Avenue. The resident said a 9mm Smith and Wesson SD9 and a bronze-colored Stoeger 45 revolver were taken. The estimated loss of the handguns was $1,300.

On Aug. 6, criminal damage was reported to a fire hydrant at Arizona Boulevard and Sunset Drive in the amount of $1,000. An employee of Arizona Water Company told police that someone had run over the fire hydrant between 5 p.m. Aug. 5 and 8 a.m. Aug. 6.

On Aug. 4, a subcontractor of Fence Masters at a jobsite on Selma Highway reported the theft of construction equipment valued at $18,350. The employee reported that a Tobi Hind air compressor valued at $15,000, a yellow Rhino driver post pounder valued at $3,300 and an air house valued at $50 were gone when crews arrived for work at 5 a.m. Aug. 3. He was told by other workers the gear was last seen at about 5 p.m. July 31. He also said a security guard was onsite over that weekend but did not report any suspicious activity.
