Joshua Austin

One June 23, Joshua Austin was arrested for shoplifting at the Walmart on Arizona Boulevard. Police approached Austin, who’d been identified by store employees, and questioned him about the contents of an ice chest in his possession. Store employees said that Austin had stolen the ice chest that was recovered by the police. Inside the ice chest police allegedly found two GPS units, two scientific calculators, a GoPro camera, and a Kodak brand camera. The value of the stolen of stolen items was estimated to be just over $1,100. Austin was later released to DPS custody for an active warrant, while charges of shoplifting were forwarded to the county attorney’s office.

Damar White

On June 29, Damar White was arrested during an altercation with police following a hit and run. White’s vehicle is shown in surveillance footage colliding with another car and West Hess Avenue, which in turn collides with another adjacent parked vehicle. White’s vehicle is then seen driving away without making contact with the damaged vehicles’ owners. When police arrived at White’s residence, and attempted to make contact, White allegedly acted belligerent and was later arrested. The charges of failing to stay at the scene of an accident were forwarded for review to the county attorney’s office.

On June 30, Mikela Shanley was cited for failing to control her vehicle’s speed to avoid an incident. Shanley allegedly caused a two-vehicle collision along Highway 287 near Eleven Mile Corner Road when the vehicle in front of her had to slow down and Shanley could not stop in time to avoid hitting the rear. One of the passengers in the front vehicle requested medical attention due to a possible head injury and was turned over to AMR. Both vehicles were turned over to their drivers.

Incidents and reports

On July 3, a firearm was allegedly stolen from a residence in the 100 block of South 16th Street. The victim told police that when they had returned to their home that evening, the side yard gate was open and the door to the house was unlocked. They discovered that someone had ransacked the master bedroom and caused a mess. The case was suspended pending further information or leads.

On July 13, police were notified of a criminal damage incident in the 400 block of Vah Ki Inn Road. The victim told police who arrived on scene that someone had smashed a window in their home the previous evening. Police noted the window was cracked and had a small hole in it. The victim named a potential suspect, but upon making contact the suspect denied having broken the window. The case was suspended pending further evidence.

On July 15, two unknown suspects stole alcohol from the Circle K at 495 Arizona Boulevard. The police were notified that the suspects, a man and a woman, had fled the scene in their vehicle after the incident. A store employee told police the value of the stolen alcohol, three 12-packs of beer, was valued at just over $50. The case was suspended pending further information about the suspects.
