The Eloy Fire District responded to the following calls for the week ending Dec 22nd, 2019. The district also responded to 4 calls from an outside agency for assistance.
At 6:20 pm in the 3000 block of W. Sueno Dr. BR522 was dispatched for a reported rubbish fire. BR522 arrived on-scene to find a small fire next to a structure. BR522 extinguished the fire which was contained to the area and had not spread to the structure. BR522 cleared and returned to quarters.
At 10:51 pm in the area of Battaglia Rd and La Palma Rd. BR521 was dispatched for a brush fire. BR521 arrived on-scene to find a brush fire on the side of the road. BR521 extinguished the fire and mopped up the area for any additional hot spots. BR521 cleared and returned to quarters
At 12:58 pm in the 7000 Block of S. Sunland Gin Rd. EN522, Hazmat 522 and BC521 were dispatched for a possible natural gas leak in the area. EN522 arrived on-scene and established command with Southwest gas already on-scene. SWG advised they needed Fire on standby due to the nature of the incident. EN522 pulled a line for protection and assisted SWG. SWG secured the leak, Command was terminated, and crew went available.
At 1:10 pm in the 600 Block of W. Martin Luther King Blvd. BR521 was dispatched for a reported rubbish fire. BR521 arrived on-scene to find a wood trimmings fire extinguished by Eloy PD and no homeowner. The homeowner arrived. BR521 advised the homeowner there was no burning permitted when not being attended. BR521 cleared and returned to quarters.
At 12:49 pm in the 200 block of N. Sunshine Blvd. EN521 was dispatched for a fire alarm activation. BC521 arrived on-scene with nothing showing. BC521 was met at the curb by an employee who stated they were having their duct work fixed which set off the alarm. It was determined to be a false alarm and units were cleared from the call.
At 1:10 pm in the 100 Block of S. Picacho Heights Rd. EN521 was dispatched for a Smoke Investigation. EN521 arrived on-scene to find a smoldering burn pit with trash and plastic debris.EN521 extinguished the rest of the hot embers and advised the homeowner that it was illegal to burn items other than wood products. EN521 was cleared.
