The Eloy Fire District responded to the following calls for the week ending Oct. 13. The district also responded to 6 calls from an outside agency for assistance.
At 10:22 am in the area of Selma Highway and Signal Peak Road. E522, BC521, T521, and BR521 responded to a report of Palm Trees on fire. EN522 arrived on-scene to find a fast moving fire in the Palm Tree Farm. EN522 began to establish defensive lines and started wet lining the advancing fire while protecting the rest of the unburned Palm Trees. RFRD was on-scene and assigned to start suppression efforts on the northeast side. BC521 arrived and assumed command. EN522 was working diligently on extinguishing the fire and working on fire breaks on the low level fuels. Tender 521 arrived and supplied water for EN522. Brush 521 arrived on-scene and assisted with containment efforts with EN522. Fire control was accomplished and the fire was declared out in the afternoon.
At 11:15 am in the 3000 Block of N. Toltec Rd. E522 was dispatched for a fire alarm sounding. E522 arrived on-scene and greeted by facilities personnel, who advised they were having system issues and was getting the system fixed. It was determined to be a false alarm and EN522 cleared.
At 7:21 pm in the 3000 block of W Caballero Dr. Units were dispatched for a report of a residential structure fire. EN522, EN521, BC521, M521 responded. EN522 arrived on-scene and reported a working fire. EN522 began making access into the property and working on fire attack. BC521 arrived on-scene and assumed command from EN522. EN521 arrived and assisted fire attack with extinguishment. EFD Fire Investigator arrived on-scene and started the investigation w/ EPD. The fire was extinguished and crews were cleared.
At 11:10 pm in the 3000 Block of N. Fig St. EN522 was dispatched for a smoke detector sounding. EN522 arrived on-scene to find nothing showing. The RP advised the alarms were sounding then would stop. The crew assisted the RP with the issue and then cleared for quarters.
At 3:47 pm in the area of State Route 87 and Alsdorf Road. BR521 was dispatched for a brush fire. BC521 arrived with PCSO on-scene to a brush fire. Brush 521 arrived on-scene and began working on fire control. The fire was extinguished and crews were released.
At 10:45 am in the area of State Route 87 and Alsdorf Road. BR521 was dispatched for a brush fire. Brush 521 arrived on-scene to find a trash fire which had spread to the brush. PCSO was notified and Brush 521 extinguished the fire.
