COOLIDGE — An 85-year-old man living in the 300 block of West Coolidge Avenue allegedly was punched and stabbed with knives May 5 by two people after the man accused them of squatting at the residence.

Coolidge Police later arrested Rosie Hursey, 50, and Rickie Fields, 42. Hursey, who also had active Coolidge warrants, and Fields were booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Center on charges of aggravated assault.

Earlier that week, others at the residence had attempted to get Hursey removed from the home for trespassing.

According to the alleged victim, after being attacked, he got into his vehicle in an attempt to get to Coolidge City Court. Eventually he made it to PER Automotive on Arizona Boulevard, where the owner found him and called 911.

Police said that there were large amounts of blood both outside City Court and at the automotive shop.

The man reportedly had cuts to both arms, a cut by his right eye, and bumps on his head from being beaten. At the apartment, police said they found bloody knives as well as evidence of chairs having been thrown around.

The victim was transported to Chandler Regional Medical Center. Police said the man had lost a significant amount of blood as a result of the altercation; once at the hospital the victim received a blood transfusion. Medical staff told police tendons in the man’s wrist were damaged and would require surgery.
