COOLIDGE — On July 1, a Monday evening in the middle of summer vacation, students and staff huddled at the Imagine Prep football field, hoping their prayers may be answered.
This was the second candlelight vigil that the high school put on for Eleazar Tellez, one of six teenagers who were involved in a single-vehicle collision early on June 30.
The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office would not release any information regarding the wreck, but PinalCentral was informed through the Eloy Police Department that the accident reportedly occurred near Selma Highway and Curry Road at around 2 a.m.
According to school officials, five of the juveniles involved in the accident suffered minor to moderate injuries. Tellez, however, reportedly was flown to a nearby hospital and is currently in critical condition.
Officials from Imagine Prep indicated that Tellez’s condition has not worsened, but also has not changed.
Students and staff from Imagine Prep rallied together to hold vigils for Tellez in the hopes that his condition will improve.
