Vehicle accident Kenworthy and Pinkley

Two people were transported to Chandler Regional Medical Center by air following a collision that occurred at North Kenworthy Road and West Pinkley Avenue in Coolidge.

COOLIDGE — An elderly man and woman were transported to a hospital with injuries resulting from a collision that occurred Thursday afternoon.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of North Kenworthy Road and West Pinkley Avenue at 3:28 p.m. when a two-vehicle collision was reported in the intersection.

The incident occurred when a 1980 Ford Econoline van collided with a 2004 Ford Explorer as it attempted to change lanes. Both vehicles were traveling north on Kenworthy Road.

Police said that the van and the Explorer sustained moderate damage. The driver of the van, 91, and the passenger, 86, were airlifted to Chandler Regional Medical Center for head injuries.

The 18-year-old driver of the Explorer was not transported to a hospital.
