COOLIDGE — A 33-year-old woman was arrested after a fatal hit-and-run during an altercation in a Coolidge area subdivision Saturday night.

Chanda Eckert, 33, of Coolidge was arrested for first-degree murder by the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office. Eckert is accused of killing 53-year-old Peggy O’Neil with a motor vehicle.

The PCSO states deputies were dispatched to a fight and possible hit and run about 8:10 p.m. Saturday at East Turquoise Trail and North Sierra Drive near Coolidge.

O’Neil was pronounced dead at the scene.

This remains an ongoing investigation and Eckert is being held pending the posting of a $250,000 cash-only bond.

The incident does not appear to be a random crime and the victim knew the suspect, according to PCSO investigators.
