Spots available

The Community Recreation Center is seeking:

  • Group fitness instructors to lead energizing, fun, safe and positive classes including Zumba, barre, yoga, pilates, Mossa Fitness, senior fitness and more. Those interested may contact Aaron Walter at 520-421-8677, ext. 4410 or
  • Special interest class instructors who would like to share a hobby or skill with others including fitness, cheer, dance, arts. Those interested may contact Taylor Hubbard at 520-421-8677, ext. 4550 or
  • Adult softball umpires for a league. Umpires earn $17.50 to $18.50 per game. Games are typically Monday and Thursday nights. For more information, contact the Recreation Division at 520-421-8677, ext. 4560.

Swim lessons

Session two begins June 18. Each session lasts two weeks and includes six classes. All swim lessons are 30 minutes in duration and cost $15 per participant. Classes are designed based on age and skill level and are limited to six participants per certified instructor to ensure proper training is provided. Register at Scholarships are available for qualified people who register in person at 1905 N. Peart Road.

Summer rec registration

Fun, interactive and engaging activities such as Weird Science, Art Daze, Sports Camp and more aim to keep young people busy during the summer. Registration for summer programs and swim lessons is online at

Summer golf passes

Patrons may purchase summer golf passes for the season that runs through Sept. 30. The summer golf pass is $430 and includes unlimited green fees with a cart, half-price range balls and a discount on select pro shop merchandise.

Community Recreation Center

Zumbini is a special interest class for children up to age 4. It combines music, dance and educational tools for 45 minutes of learning and fun. To view classes, dates, times and to register, visit

Recreation Swim Team

Swimmers ages 6 to 17 will get an introduction into competitive swimming through this program. They will learn race starts, flip turns, stroke improvement and endurance. Cost to participate is $45 per child. Register at

Beginners Cheer Camp

Young people ages 5 to 10 will be taught a variety of dance moves in this weeklong cheer camp. Classes will begin with stretching and warmups leading into a combination of cheer basics and dance choreography. Dress code: comfortable clothing and tennis shoes. Class begins July 8, cost is $45 for CRC members and $50 for non-members. Register at

Tumbling for Cheerleaders Camp

Young people ages 8 to 15 will learn basic tumbling skills needed for cheerleading: handstands, cartwheels, round-offs, backbends and cheer jumps. Strength and flexibility exercises will also be emphasized. Class begins July 8, cost is $45 for CRC members and $50 for non-members. Register at

Thunderous Thursdays

Thunderous Thursdays is a social club for developmentally/physically disabled teens and adults. June’s activity will be Giant Bowling on June 13 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. For more information, call 520-421-8677, ext. 4523.

Evening dance

A Dorothy Powell Senior Adult Center evening dance is scheduled for June 11 featuring C.C. Collier. The dance begins at 7 p.m. with $5 admission per person. For more information, call 520-421-8760.

Senior Karaoke Sing-Along

The Dorothy Powell Senior Adult Center will host Karaoke Sing-Along for its members on Wednesday, June 12, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. For more information, call 520-421-8760.

Family Swim Nights

The community can enjoy free Family Swim Nights for the 2019 summer season. Banner Health has generously sponsored free admission for Family Swim Nights on Fridays from 5:15 to 7:15 p.m. now through Aug. 2 at Palm Island Family Aquatic Park, 1115 N. Brown Ave.
