The Casa Grande Recreation Center is hiring group fitness instructors who are interested in leading an energizing, fun, safe and positive class experience. Summer rec registration

Keep the kiddos busy during the summer with fun, interactive and engaging activities such as Weird Science, Art Daze, Sports Camp and more. Registration for summer programs and swim lessons is now open! View class schedules and register at

Swim lessons start June 4

Registration is still open for the first session of swim lessons, starting Tuesday . Each session lasts two weeks and includes six 30-minute classes. Cost is $15 per participant. Classes are designed based on age and skill level, and are limited to six participants per certified instructor to ensure proper training is provided. Register at Scholarships are available, but you must register in person at 1905 N. Peart Road.

Adult leagues

  • Co-ed softball will play on Monday evenings starting June 10. Cost is $395 per team.
  • Men’s Basketball League will play on Wednesday evenings beginning June 12. Cost is $300 per team.
  • Men’s Softball League will play Thursday evenings starting June 13. Cost is $395 per team.

Pickleball basics for adults

Pickleball for adults is a four-week camp covering the basics of the game including safety, paddle positioning, footwork, serving, rules of the game and other fundamentals. It meets on all Tuesdays in June from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Register online at or in person at the Casa Grande Community Recreation Center, 1905 N. Peart Road. Cost is free for center members or $15 per person for non-members.

Parent ed, early literacy

The Fun Van will visit the Community Recreation Center on Wednesdays in June. It is for children up to age 5 and includes parent discussions and sharing while children play under supervision, a reading activity or art project focusing on working with children. Zumbini is a new special interest class for children up to age 4 that combines music, dance and educational tools for 45 minutes of can’t stop, won’t stop bonding, learning and fun. To view classes, dates, times and to register, visit

Recreation Swim Team

Youths ages 6 to 17 will get an introduction to competitive swimming through the Recreation Swim Team program. They will learn race starts, flip turns, stroke improvement and endurance. Cost to participate is $45 per child. Register at

Beginner Cheer Camp

Youths ages 5 to 10 will be taught a variety of dance moves in Beginner Cheer Camp, a weeklong experience with classes that include stretching and warmups leading into a combination of cheer basics and dance choreography. Children should wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes. Class begins July 8. Cost is $45 for center members and $50 for non-members. Register at

Tumbling for Cheerleaders Camp

Youths ages 8 to 15 will learn basic tumbling skills needed for cheerleading: handstands, cartwheels, round-offs, backbends and cheer jumps. Strength and flexibility exercises will also be emphasized. Class begins July 8, cost is $45 for center members and $50 for non-members. Register at

Adult softball umpires needed

The Parks and Recreation Division is seeking adult softball umpires. Earn $17.50 to $18.50 per game. Games are typically Monday and Thursday nights. For more information, call 520-421-8677, ext. 4560.

Thunderous Thursdays

Thunderous Thursdays is a social club for developmentally/physically disabled teens and adults. June’s activity will be Giant Bowling on June 13 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. For more information, call 520-421-8677, ext. 4523.

Evening dance

A Dorothy Powell Senior Adult Center evening dance is scheduled for June 11 featuring CC Collier. The dance begins at 7 p.m. with $5 admission per person. For more information, call 520-421-8760.

Senior Karaoke Sing-Along
