Recreation needs

The Community Recreation Center is looking for:

  • Group fitness instructors to lead energizing, fun, safe and positive classes including Zumba, barre, yoga, pilates, Mossa Fitness, senior fitness and much more. Those interested may contact Aaron Walter at 520-421-8677, ext. 4410 or

Recreation center

The Community Recreation Center is open! To sign up for a membership, visit or visit in person at 1905 N. Peart Road. Purchase a membership before Dec. 31 and receive the Legacy Discount.

Swim lessons

Session 4 begins July 23. Each session lasts two weeks and includes six classes. All swim lessons are 30 minutes in duration and cost $15 per participant for the session. The deadline to register is July 18. Classes are designed based on age and skill level and are limited to six participants per certified instructor to ensure proper training is provided. Register at Scholarships are available, but you must register in person at 1905 N. Peart Road.

Adult softball umpires needed

The Parks and Recreation Division is seeking adult softball umpires interested in earning $17.50 to $18.50 per game. Games are typically Monday and Thursday nights. For more information, call 520-421-8677, ext. 4560.

Family Swim Nights

The community can enjoy free Family Swim Nights. Banner Health has sponsored free admission on Fridays from 5:15 to 7:15 p.m. through Aug. 2 at Palm Island Family Aquatic Park, 1115 N. Brown Ave.

Men’s Basketball League

The Men’s Basketball League will play on Wednesday evenings beginning July 17. The league will consist of seven weeks with a single-elimination playoff following the regular season. Must be 18 or older to participate. Cost is $300 per team. Games are played at the Community Recreation Center, 1905 N. Peart Road.

Thunderous Thursdays

Thunderous Thursdays is a social club for developmentally/physically disabled teens and adults. July’s activity will be Paint Party this Thursday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The activity will be hosted at the Dorothy Powell Senior Center, 405 E. Lego Camp

Teach your Lego bricks new tricks in Lego Engineering and Robotics Camp. Attendees will build things that move and even think for themselves using a mix of standard Lego, Lego Technic parts and Lego Mindstorms robotics parts in a program that will challenge students to develop teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills while they learn STEM concepts and work to solve challenges with creative solutions. Students should bring a water bottle and a small snack and leave their own Legos at home. All other supplies are provided. There are no take-home projects. The camp is for ages 7 to 14 and will be held from 8 to 11:30 a.m. July 15 to 19 at the Len Colla Recreation Center, 1105 E. Fourth St. The cost is $75. Register at
