Fitness instructors

The Community Recreation Center is looking to hire group fitness instructors who are interested in leading an energizing, fun, safe and positive class experience. Summer registration

Keep the kiddos busy all summer long with fun, interactive and engaging activities such as Weird Science, Art Daze, Sports Camp and more. Registration for summer programs and swim lessons is now open. View class schedules and register at

Summer golf pass

Patrons can now purchase summer golf passes for the season, which runs through Sept. 30. The summer golf pass is $430 and includes unlimited green fees with a cart, half-price range balls and a 10% discount on select pro shop merchandise.

Center now open

Swim lessons

Session 2 begins June 18. Each session lasts two weeks and includes six classes. All swim lessons are 30 minutes in duration and cost $15 per participant. Classes are designed based on age and skill level and are limited to six participants per certified instructor to ensure proper training is provided. Register at Scholarships are available, but you must register in person at 1905 N. Peart Road.

Recreation swim team

Youths ages 6 to 17 will get an introduction into competitive swimming through this program. They will learn race starts, flip turns, stroke improvement and endurance. Cost to participate is $45 per child. Register at

Beginners cheer camp

Youths ages 5 to 10 will be taught a variety of dance moves in this weeklong cheer camp. Classes will begin with stretching and warmups leading into a combination of cheer basics and dance choreography. Dress code: comfortable clothing and tennis shoes. Class begins July 8, cost is $45 for CRC members and $50 for non-members. Register at

Tumbling for cheerleaders camp

Youths ages 8 to 15 will learn basic tumbling skills needed for cheerleading: handstands, cartwheels, round-offs, backbends and cheer jumps. Strength and flexibility exercises will also be emphasized. Class begins July 8, cost is $45 for CRC members and $50 for non-members. Register at

Adult softball umpires needed

The Parks and Recreation Division is seeking adult softball umpires. Earn $17.50 to $18.50 per game. Games are typically Monday and Thursday nights. For more information, call 520-421-8677, ext. 4560.

Thunderous Thursdays

Thunderous Thursdays is a social club for developmentally/physically disabled teens and adults. June’s activity will be Giant Bowling this Thursday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. For more information, call 520-421-8677, ext. 4523.

Family Swim Nights

The community can enjoy free Family Swim Nights for the summer. Banner Health has sponsored free admission for Family Swim Nights on Fridays from 5:15 to 7:15 p.m. now through Aug. 2 at Palm Island Family Aquatic Park, 1115 N. Brown Ave.

Dive-In Movie

A summer staple for the whole family to enjoy! Moviegoers will see a family friendly film on a giant inflatable screen while staying cool in the pool. The Dive-In Movie will be held this Friday. Gates open at 7 p.m. and the movie will start at 7:30. The admission fee is $3 per person. June’s movie is “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World.”

World’s Largest Swim Lesson

Be part of a team of tens of thousands of kids and families who will be participating in the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson on Thursday, June 20, at aquatic centers and waterparks around the globe. Help spread the word that swimming lessons save lives from 1 to 2 p.m. at Palm Island Family Aquatic Park, 1115 N. Brown Ave.

Challenger Soccer Camps

Tiney Tykes, 3- to 5-year-olds: A fun introduction to soccer focusing on developing coordination, balance, running, stopping, turning, kicking, dribbling, throwing and catching. Camp runs from June 17 to 21, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Cost to register is $85.

Half-Day Camp, 5- to 16-year-olds: Emphasis is placed upon individual skill development, small-sided games and having fun! Camp runs June 17-21, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Cost to register is $132. Each camper will receive a camp T-shirt, soccer ball, player evaluation form, international soccer poster and online coaching resources. Men’s Basketball League

The Men’s Basketball League will play on Wednesday evenings beginning July 17. The league will consist of seven weeks with a single-elimination playoff following the regular season. Must be 18 or older to participate. Cost is $300 per team. Games are played at the Community Recreation Center, 1905 N. Peart Road.
