Medicare enrollment councilor availability

CASA GRANDE — The annual open enrollment season for Medicare runs through Dec. 7. As part of the Arizona State Health Insurance Assistance Program, the Pinal-Gila Council for Senior Citizens has established a schedule for enrollment counselors to meet with enrollees. Councilors will be available Monday, Oct. 21 and Nov. 18 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Dorothy Powell Adult Center, 405 E. Sixth St.

Spooktoberfest: Season Opener

ORACLE — On Sunday, Oct. 20 at 3 p.m. the Oracle Piano Society Artistic Director Stephen Cook, will kick off the 2019-20 Signature Series Season at Oracle Center for the Arts, 700 E. Kingston St., with Spooktoberfest, a concert mashup of two favorite October traditions: Halloween and Oktoberfest. Halloween or Oktoberfest costumes may be worn.

P.E.O. Chapter BP meets

The regular meeting of P.E.O. Chapter BP is Monday, Oct. 21. Refreshments are at 9:30 a.m. and the meeting starts at 10. It is open to all P.E.O. unaffiliates and fall/winter visitors. Those in need of transportation or would more information may call 712-259-1646.

Free breast cancer screening event

Sun Life’s Day for Women offers free breast cancer screening from 3 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 1864 E. Florence Blvd., Suite 2. To make an appointment, call 520-381-0380. Mammograms conducted from screening referrals will be billed to insurance if applicable or free for those who are uninsured. A photo booth, giveaways and refreshments are on tap.

Memory Cafe

A Memory Cafe celebration is from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at Pinal-Gila Council For Senior Citizens, 8969 W. McCartney Rd. A Memory Cafe is a welcoming place for people with forgetfulness or other changes in their thinking, and for their family and friends to know they not alone on their journey. The Memory Cafe schedule: 10 to 10:30 a.m for light refreshments; 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., musical entertainment and 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. is visiting with new friends. An RSVP not required. American Legion Post 8 meets

American Legion Post 8 meets at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 713 N. Park Ave. Refreshments will be served after the meeting. For more information, call Don Graham at 520-431-3838.

The Casa Grande Alliance Strong Families Program is an 8-week family education series designed for families with children between the ages of 10 and 14. CGUHSD Workforce Development Luncheon

Casa Grande Union High School District hosts a luncheon on Wednesday, Oct. 23 from noon to 1:30 p.m. to discuss workforce development with potential businesses. Food Caravan to Rocky Point

A food caravan to Rocky Point (Puerto Peñasco), Mexico is set for Oct. 26. The trip benefits an orphanage and the St. Vincent De Paul charity and clinic. Donations are needed of rice and beans, milk, laundry soap and bath soap. Sommers Glass & Mirror will accept donations of non-perishable items at 503 E.
