Girl Scout Sampler event planned
A Girl Scout Sampler event with a theme of “Outdoors: More to Explore” is set for Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Community Recreation Center, 1905 N. Peart Road, on the outside of the building. The event is free and open to any girl in kindergarten through fifth grade who wants to get a taste of what Girl Scouts is all about. During the program, Girl Scout staff will be on-hand to answer questions about how to enroll children in the program.

Casa Grande Valley Elks Lodge 1957 has the following activities this week:
- Wednesday: Grill Night from 5 to 6 p.m.
- Thursday: women’s shuffleboard, 12:30 p.m.; Queen of Hearts drawing, 6:30 p.m.
- Friday: Valentine’s Day dinner, 5 p.m.; music by RJ Band, 6 to 9 p.m.
- Saturday: bingo, 1 p.m.
- Sunday: meat draw, 3 p.m.
The lodge is at 909 E. Florence Blvd.
CGA Community Speaker Series
As a part of the Casa Grande Alliance Community Speaker Series, Bob Shogren will talk on “Adverse Childhood Experiences — An Intro” at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday at 280 W. McMurray Blvd. The workshop will explore how adverse childhood experiences impact learning and lifelong health and well-being in children, adolescents and adults. The workshop will review recent research and incorporate ideas for trauma-informed activities to incorporate when working with children and adults. It’s the first of a three-part workshop series.
The Casa Grande Kiwanis meet Thursday at the Casa Grande Union High School District Office building, 1362 N. Casa Grande Ave., from 7 to 8 a.m. The entrance is located at the west side of the building. Park in the front west parking lot and enter the front door. Walk down to the first hallway on the left. The meeting room is located on the left. The program speaker will be Kurt Kieser, CGUHS track coach, who will give a preview of the upcoming track meet. Guests and visitors are welcome to attend.
