TUCSON — The fall shows of the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show will return with four days of shopping, workshops and fun at Casino Del Sol, 5655 W. Valencia Road, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday through Sunday, Sept. 9-12.
Attendees will find three shows combined in one location — To Bead True Blue, Colors of the Stone and Tucson Bead and Design Workshop Retreat — bringing together a diverse group of artisans, bead makers, wholesalers, merchants, lapidaries and tradespeople, a press release said.
The event aims to appeal to whose who are professional designers as well as hobbyists.
The shows aim to be a “treasure trove of one-of-a-kind finds, handcrafted items and jewelry supplies at great prices for shoppers — products made with careful, meticulous detail, natural materials and brilliant colors. Everything from bold eclectic accessories like handcrafted gold earrings and handmade clothing to trade beads, silver findings and antique beads and jewelry,” the press release said.
Workshops are offered throughout the shows and give attendees a chance to get creative and try new skills including mixed media and jewelry making techniques such as bead work, art clay, kumihimo, metal work, creative mending and wearable art.
The fall shows promote handcrafted and designer-sourced media beads, lapidary, gems, minerals, metalwork, art jewelry, ceramics, glass lamp work, polymer clay, artisan textiles, hand-sewn clothing, hand-tooled leather, natural-dyed fibers and wearable art.
