CASA GRANDE — An upcoming author showcase at Casa Grande Main Library will feature area writers and their published works.
The two-day showcase is set for Tuesday, Feb. 25, and Wednesday, Feb. 26.
Among the writers expected to be on-hand are:
- Keith Smith, Patricia Steele, Lynn Anders, Sharon Durken and Bob Schrader on Feb. 25.
- Rod Collins, Jaine Toth, Susanne Perry, Wendy Landers and Tom Betz on Feb. 26.
Some of the local writers at the showcase are members of the Inklings writers group, a band of writers who assemble once a month at the Vista Grande Library to review and critique one another’s work and help newbie authors with advice about finishing and publishing their work.
Inklings was started several years ago by the Vista Grande Library adult services librarian Deanna Davis, who serves as the organizer for the group.
The group is free to attend and open to anyone working on a writing project including poetry, memoirs, children’s books and novels. About eight to 10 people attend on a regular basis, but meetings sometimes attract more than 20 people.
Publishing isn’t a requirement, Davis said, but for many in the group, it’s a goal.
Everyone attending a meeting is asked to bring a writing sample of a current project. Those in attendance read the work then critique it.
The author showcase is free and open to the public.
